Aroop Roy is a UK artist and producer, whose music blends together the organic elements of afro, latin, jazz and disco with the modern edge of house, hip hop and techno. His productions have been supported worldwide by DJs across all genres, from global tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson to house legends like Francois K and Karizma. His recent reworks of jazz, funk and latin music have featured in a range of BBC radio shows including those of Craig Charles, Radcliffe and Maconie, and Pete Tong.
From tropical parties and jazz nights, to house and techno clubs, Aroop has enjoyed global demand, seeing him play in 5 continents. In 2016 alone, he toured Japan and the US and enjoyed gigs in major cities like New York, London, Paris and Tokyo as well as shows in emerging scenes like Belarus and Estonia.
Aroop has released music on a variety of labels including Freestyle, Gamm, Basic Fingers, the Gym and Kampana. His recent Brazilian Breakdown and Reworks series and Kampana Classics EPs have been hugely successfully with vinyl selling out and digital EPs topping the charts.
In 2017, he already has multiple releases scheduled, including the hotly awaited 'Talkin Bout Life' EP on House of Disco, which has had rave reviews in Mixmag and massive DJ support.
During his time in Tokyo, Aroop ran a number of successful club nights and was selected to participate in the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy. He has also DJ'd and produced for numerous brands including Puma, Fila, Louis Vuitton and Embraer. He also produced the MoMa Sound Gallery in Tokyo.
